Crasset started out in the 1990s as an apprentice to Denis Santachiara in Italy and Philippe Starck in France
In the early 2000s, she established Matali Crasset Productions. Crasset sees design as research, by observing everyday practices and questioning habitual organisational principles.
She works across disciplines, from crafts to contemporary art, producing stage designs, interiors, architecture and graphic design, and working with artists, publishers, councils and local bodies. She recently had a solo exhibition, Soundscapes, at the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum in New York.
