Charles Rice, educated in Australia and the UK, is currently Professor of Architectural History and Theory, and Head of the School of Art and Design History at Kingston University London
Charles Rice has previously taught at the University of New South Wales, the Architectural Association, and the University of Technology Sydney, where he holds an Adjunct Professorship in the School of Architecture.
Rice’s research considers key questions of modern architecture through the interior. He is author of The Emergence of the Interior: Architecture, Modernity, Domesticity (Routedge, 2007), and he is currently completing a manuscript provisionally titled The Emergence of Interior Urbanism: John Portman and the Atrium Effect (Bloomsbury, 2015). Rice is co-editor of The Journal of Architecture (Routledge & RIBA), and has been invited to lecture at numerous universities and cultural institutions internationally, most recently at The Berlage Centre for Advanced Studies in Architecture and Urban Design, The Royal College of Art, and The Architectural Association.
