Absolute RAW is a celebration of simplicity, where the design process is inverted and usually-hidden building materials become the focus.
By using inexpensive, understated and often underutilised materials, RAW aims to raise our awareness of sustainability in design. A concept which wholly embodies the philosophy of the recently-opened DAAA Haus gallery and workshop.
DAAA gallery is both home to DAAA interior design and architecture studio, and a gallery for a constantly changing display of new and innovative materials and products, for design professionals and aficionados alike.
Situated on a side street in San Gwann, and surrounded by auto mechanics, DAAA Haus was designed to retain a raw, urban and understated feel. Plywood, chipboard, exposed lighting cables and bulbs, rope, wire mesh and concrete flooring feature in the refurbishment, and provide a quiet backdrop to the materials on show in the gallery.
Join us at this official Malta Design Week satellite event for an ABSOLUTE RAW cocktail, raw food nibbles, and good conversation. Artist Matthew Micallef will create a sculpture from a block of wood, to be sold through the gallery with proceeds going to a charitable cause (to be announced).
